Behaviour and Wellbeing at Unity Academy
At Unity Academy, we believe that positive behaviour is built through strong, trusting relationships. Our relational and trauma-informed approach ensures that every pupil feels safe, valued, and understood, recognising that behaviour is a form of communication and that every child deserves support to succeed.
We work alongside pupils to develop emotional regulation, build resilience, and strengthen the skills needed to engage positively in learning and relationships. Pupil voice is central to our practice, with regular opportunities for children to reflect, share their views, and participate in supportive conversations that help them feel heard and respected.
Restorative practice is at the heart of our approach. When difficulties arise, we focus on repairing relationships, understanding what has happened, and supporting pupils to move forward positively. Through consistent support, regulation strategies, and restorative conversations, we help pupils learn from experiences while maintaining their dignity and sense of belonging.
"Every day is a fresh start"
Celebrating success is an important part of everyday life at Unity Academy. We actively recognise effort, achievement, kindness, progress, and positive choices through our reward systems, including House Points and Class Dojo Points, helping pupils take pride in their accomplishments and contributions to the school community. Alongside these, pupils are recognised through classroom rewards, celebration assemblies, certificates, and special awards, ensuring that success is shared, valued, and celebrated by all.
Our aim is to create a nurturing environment where every child feels safe, connected, and empowered to thrive both academically and personally.
