Trackers at Unity Academy

The Unity Tracker provides a structured approach to monitoring pupils’ sustained progress within our setting.  It also enables illuminative patterns of positive and negative behaviour to be identified in order to further modify the intervention plan.

The process of tracking and monitoring progress enables the teacher, specialist support staff, Educational Psychologist and parent(s) to share information and form strong partnerships to support the pupil.

Every pupil will have a tracker with positive targets set by their classroom teacher that focus on observable and achievable behaviours.  The tracker will be completed at the end of every lesson with the pupil.  Pupil voice is central to the process as reflective conversations play a key role in supporting children to change their behaviours.

Rewards at Unity Academy

Reward is an essential part of our school day, everyday and all day long.  Our children arrive having had negative experiences of school and often adults.  Praise forms a central part of our aim to support children to become happy learners.

“Acknowledging good behaviour encourages repetition and communicates the school community’s expectations and values to all pupils.

“Using positive recognition and rewards provides an opportunity for all staff to reinforce the school’s culture and ethos.

“Positive reinforcements and rewards should be applied clearly and fairly to reinforce the routines, expectations, and norms of the school’s behaviour culture.”

  • Reward charts

Every pupil will have a Rewards chart in their classroom where they can earn ticks.

Ticks can be given for all areas of school life: Star values, kindness, behaviour and academic work.  When children have earnt 20 ticks they can get a prize from the prize box

  • Star of the Day

This will be displayed in every classroom

At the end of each day all children will sing their class ‘Star of the Day’ song

Each child will vote for one child that they think should get Star of the Day including staff, they can not vote for themselves and must give a reason for their choice.

The child with the most votes will get a prize and their photo will go on the display in the classroom.
