Reflections and support

This course equips school staff with the knowledge and skills to participate effectively in a Team Around the School (TAS) approach. Participants will explore reflective practice, collaborative working, and strategies for providing appropriate support to pupils, families, and colleagues. Unity staff will facilitate and nurture the conversations, directing and supporting staff to understand pupils and develop strategies to further the help staff around the pupil.

The Art of Reflective Conversations in Practice

Reflective conversations are a powerful tool in supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. This course develops practitioners' confidence in using purposeful dialogue to build relationships, promote emotional wellbeing, enhance problem-solving skills, and support positive outcomes for pupils.

Mastering the zones of regulation

This practical course equips school staff with the knowledge and skills to confidently implement the Zones of Regulation framework to support pupils' emotional regulation, self-awareness, and wellbeing. Participants will explore strategies to help children recognise, understand, and manage their emotions while developing a consistent whole-school approach to regulation.

Managing challenge behaviour with confidence- deescalation strategies

This practical and engaging course equips staff with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to understand, manage, and de-escalate challenging behaviour effectively. Participants will explore the underlying causes of behaviour, develop proactive responses, and learn evidence-informed de-escalation techniques that promote positive relationships, safety, and emotional regulation.

Through the sensory lens

This course provides staff with a deeper understanding of sensory processing and the effective use of Sensory Circuits to support children's regulation, engagement, learning, and wellbeing. Participants will explore how sensory needs impact behaviour, emotions, and participation, while gaining practical strategies to implement successful sensory circuits within educational settings.

Effective TA Deployment

This course is designed for Teaching Assistants, HLTAs, and support staff. The training focuses on effective deployment strategies, proactive support through the use of the scaffolding framework.

Understanding PDA

This specialist SEMH course explores Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) and how demand-avoidant behaviours can impact a child's emotional wellbeing, relationships, engagement, and educational experience. Participants will develop a deeper understanding of the anxiety-driven nature of PDA and learn practical, compassionate strategies that reduce distress, build trust, and support positive outcomes.

The course focuses on moving from behaviour management to relationship-based support, helping staff understand what lies beneath the "no."
