Unity Academy offers four distinct placement types designed to meet the individual needs of every pupil.

• SEND placement (STP)
• Reconnect Placement (RTP)
• Assessment placement (ATP)
• Pupil referral placement (PTP)

SEND Placement:

Our SEND placements provide medium to long-term support for pupils with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). Pupils are placed in the Orchard pathway. We provide a nurturing and specialist environment where pupils can develop academically, socially, and emotionally. Our goal is to support every pupil to make successful progress and, wherever possible, reintegrate into a mainstream school setting. If mainstream is not appropriate for next steps, our experienced staff work closely with families and professionals to help them understand and navigate the next steps. Throughout their placement, Unity Academy staff provide dedicated support to ensure pupils and their families are well-prepared for a successful transition to their next educational setting.

 

Reconnect placement:

Through our outreach offer, we provide reconnect placements. These are short-term placements (6 weeks). Pupils access learning along the Meadow Pathway. These placements are carefully designed to support children in rebuilding relationships, developing self-regulation, and re-engaging positively with learning, so they can return to school with confidence and readiness to succeed.

Pupil Referral Placement:

These short-term placements are for pupils who have been permanently excluded from a school within the Wyre Forest area of Worcestershire. Unity Academy has 10 commissioned places, funded by Worcestershire's Education Engagement Team, who work closely with Academy staff to support pupils' next steps.

Pupils are fully included in academy life in the meadow pathway, learning alongside their peers. Throughout their placement, we work closely with pupils, families, and professionals to secure the most appropriate next setting and support a successful transition.

Our aim is to help pupils reintegrate into mainstream education as quickly and successfully as possible, wherever appropriate.

 

Assessment Placement:

Assessment Placements are short-term (12-week) placements for pupils across Worcestershire. These placements are accessed through referral from the SEN Team and are designed for pupils who may have been out of education for a period of time or whose educational needs require further assessment and understanding. While attending Unity Academy, we work closely with the family to plan an appropriate transition plan to support reintegration into a successful placement.  

 

 

Every pupil joining Unity through an STP, PTP and ATP will receive a Unity Academy uniform, helping them build a sense of pride, belonging, and connection as they become part of our school community.
